Development Goals 2022-2023

Throughout the previous semester, my focus was on four distinct goals:
1. Enhancing my English language proficiency.
2. Cultivating confidence in expressing myself in front of others.
3. Reducing emotional sensitivity and maintaining personal boundaries.
4. Improving punctuality.
As the current semester unfolds, I have chosen to elevate these goals by delving into the underlying issues that have been impeding my progress:
1. Elevating English language skills.
2. Enhancing organizational abilities.
3. Cultivating individuality.
The key reason behind my lack of confidence in voicing my ideas stems from my insecurities about my English language proficiency. Thus, the path to improving my presentation skills and boosting my confidence within group settings lies in honing my ability to express myself effectively. By acquiring a stronger command of the language, I can overcome these obstacles. Interestingly, I encounter no such issues when communicating in Spanish.
My struggle with punctuality finds its roots in a broader organizational problem that has plagued me throughout my life. To address this, I am actively working on becoming more organized, creating schedules, maintaining calendars, and adopting a producer role in a project for the second semester. By addressing the underlying organizational deficit, I can make substantial strides in improving punctuality.
Lastly, after undergoing the Belvin test, I have come to recognize my natural inclination toward teamwork. However, within a group setting, I often find myself prioritizing others' happiness over my own. In an effort to address this, I am consciously striving to embrace a more individualistic approach, trying to also feel satisfied with my own tasks. Identifying and resolving the root cause of this behavior has allowed me to make significant progress in placing greater value on my own needs.
By undertaking these measures, I am confident in my ability to overcome these challenges and continue my personal development journey.

I find a strong connection between my goals and the Professional Attitude outlined in the Compass. Listening to others' ideas and incorporating different perspectives for improved group dynamics and the final product has always come naturally to me. It aligns perfectly with my goal of fostering collaboration and inclusivity.

Taking on the role of a producer this semester has granted me significant responsibility within the team. From the very beginning, my mantra has been "Let's do something we feel proud of." By emphasizing optimism, honesty, clarity, and the sharing of opinions, I believe we can achieve our main goals and create a remarkable piece of art while adhering to the project's criteria for a good grade.

To enhance the quality of our work, we made an agreement to hold regular feedback sessions every two weeks. Through these sessions, I've discovered that my casual approach fosters a positive and comfortable environment for sharing ideas within the group. Feedback from my teammates, such as Vladimir highlighting my emphasis on task attainment and Sara acknowledging my ability to finish all tasks as a producer while bringing positive vibes, has boosted my confidence in being more individualistic, honest, organized, and open with my teammates.

In my pursuit of becoming a better producer/manager, I have taken proactive steps, including task delegation and leading meetings. Before each meeting, I thoroughly prepare by reviewing the agenda, messages from the teachers, and topics I want to discuss. I then divide tasks according to each team member's role. Our meetings, which occur every Wednesday at 10, involve discussing and sharing opinions for approximately 30 minutes. Prior to concluding the meeting, I present the task divisions I've prepared, ensuring everyone feels comfortable with their assigned responsibilities before we commence our work.

Our team consists of diverse individuals, many of whom are international, which could potentially lead to misunderstandings due to language barriers. However, from day one, we have felt comfortable expressing our abilities and aspirations for the project. Considering my team's expertise in practical areas such as photography, editing, composition, writing, and design, I always take into account their preferences and skills when assigning tasks. Regularly checking in with my teammates about their feelings regarding their tasks helps me better understand their preferences and abilities, and I appreciate their openness in expressing any disagreements or desires for different tasks.

Communication serves as the foundation for a positive team environment, and the professional attitude outlined in the compass emphasizes being a reliable, open-minded, responsible, and motivational teammate. By embodying these qualities, I am actively aligning my goals with the principles of professionalism and teamwork.
